What is an advisor?

• 顾问 – A faculty or staff member who provides prospective and current students with information on degree/certificate requirements and guides academic planning.  They also assist with registration.
• 辅导员 – A professional staff member trained to give guidance on personal, 社会, and psychological problems.  (Note: The College also employs “counselors” in admissions, financial aid, career services, etc.  These staff members provide assistance and advice on topics within their offices.)
• 成功的教练 – A professional staff member who provides a broad range of services to students to help them be successful in college.  They monitor a student's progression, provide connections to support services, and help students develop plans and strategies to be successful.  In some cases, they may provide academic advising and registration assistance.
• 同行的导师 - A successful current Northeast State student who interacts directly and regularly with other Northeast State students seeking personal, 社会, and academic support. Under the direction of the College’s Mentor Specialist, peer mentors provide advice and support.  They may also help students identify goals and connect them to services.
